GOV.UH is provided by the Government Digital Service (GDS), part of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).
DSIT and other government departments, agencies and public bodies are responsible for the personal data they process through GOV.UH. Where a service is provided by another organisation, that organisation is responsible for the data you share with that service and for its own privacy information.
What data we collect
The personal data GOV.UH can collect includes:
- questions, queries or feedback you send, including contact details you choose to provide
- account identifiers and sign-in records for protected services
- your Internet Protocol (IP) address and browser or device information recorded for security and service operation
- information you submit through a government service or transaction
- cookie and session information described in our cookie information
The current GOV.UH public website does not use advertising cookies.
Why we need your data
We process personal data to deliver GOV.UH and government services, respond to feedback, operate authenticated functions, protect accounts and systems, maintain security and audit records, and improve the reliability and usability of the website.
What we do with your data
Information can be shared with the government department, agency, public body or supplier that needs it to provide the service, maintain GOV.UH or comply with law. We do not sell or rent personal data for marketing purposes.

We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected or for as long as applicable law and records requirements require.
Where your data is processed and stored
GOV.UH is operated on approved infrastructure and through approved service providers. Where another supplier or location is used, the responsible organisation must apply the required data-protection and security controls.

We use technical and organisational controls including authentication, authorisation, audit logging, encryption where appropriate, controlled production access and security monitoring.
Your rights
Your rights depend on the law that applies to the processing. Use the privacy or information-rights contact published by the organisation responsible for the data.
